a boring essay
China’s rural millions left behind- opinion
The large population of China is not equally distributed throughout the country. The majority are living in the countryside whereas people live in cities are usually considered rich. It is true that the life quality in the countryside is worse than in the cities. This situation leads us to question whether China’s rural millions are left behind. Are rural people treated like second class citizens?
Since China is still a developing country, people live in some regions especially in villages are still quite poor. Due to the difficulties in developing transportation, local industry or some other aspects, these villages are not able to grow in a short period of time. As a result, people’s life remains rural which is thought as backward by others. It is believable that the standards of education and medical treatment in the countryside are not high as the local governments are not able to afford that. And the local communist party officials abusing their power for personal gain does occur, according to the newspaper.
It seems that life is quite unfair to those live in countryside since they have fewer opportunities to earn money comparing to those live in cities. However, in my opinion, this is an unavoidable situation in such a large developing country. It is not realistic to request the government to guarantee that everybody in the country can live the same life standard. It is reasonable that the government needs more time to develop the countryside.
The news article states that “Rural people are not just treated like second class citizens, they are”. I do not agree with this statement. Firstly, it is not suitable to say that rural people are second class citizens since they have same citizenship and rights as people live in cities. Secondly, some rural people being treated like second class citizens is not because they come from the countryside but mostly because of their rude manner and impolite behavior. For instance, my family is from the countryside and now my grandmother is still living in the village in my hometown. People around us never treat us like second class citizens though they know we are from countryside. I think whether a person is well treated by others is determined by his personal quality but not where he is from.
In conclusion, citizens do need to have faith in the government. Chinese government will lead people to a bright future and I believe rural people live in countryside can live a better life someday.

Flying back in June
busy days
