The weather was so lovely today! The sun shined happily. I opened the window in my bedroom and living room. A light warm breeze passed through my little flat bringing fresh air.
I called Tracy and asked her out to enjoy the nice weather. Since she had arranged group meetings in the afternoon, we decided to go out after her meeting.
The morning was spent researching on citizenship application. It seems that the registration process will take at least two weeks. If I am to transfer to a Master’s program, I may not have the luxury of time to travel back to finish the registration, if my application will ever be approved, that is. Father would like me to submit the application as soon as possible and close this issue soon. I am just a bit unsure of the trouble it is going to take, as compared to applying after I start work. Long flights are really tiring. Recently I even have the thought of spending Summer here! The long days make me feel richer with time!
In the afternoon, Tracy and I met at Gloucester Road tube station. We took Piccadilly line to Holborn and the British Museum was five hundred meters away. How should I describe this famous place? Well, I learnt that Trafalgar Square was not in front of the British Museum - previously I thought it was. I also felt that it was much smaller (it had fewer displayed rooms), and not as magnificent as the Louvre. However, it has a lot more precious collections from China, especially items dated back in Ming and Qing Dynasty. I was really amazed at the intricacy of the displayed antiques. How skilful were the Chinese craftsmen! I shall visit the Forbidden City one day to see whether the collections there could match up with what I saw today. Surprisingly, there was no description or explanation on how the displayed items ended up in the Great Britain. Tributes should have been paid to those who brought such wonderful treasures from the other side of the globe!
I also saw the mummies for the first time in my life! It was quite scary to think that they were actual corpses lying there for display. I took some photos of them and their beautifully decorated coffins. I would like to show these photos to my grandma and ask her for her pick. :P
For dinner we went to the long-anticipated restaurant, The Old Place, at Liverpool Street. The lamb on stick was good but the fish and lamb soup was too salty. We had quite a bit of chit chat during and after the meal. It was very pleasant. When we stepped out of the restaurant at nine o’clock, there was still some daylight. It felt like the night had just begun.
